Discover Precision with MAGNA-TIP® BITS from Brownells
With the Brownells MAGNA-TIP screwdriver, gunsmiths and firearms enthusiasts can achieve a close fit in nearly any gun screw they encounter, as well as a multitude of household and garage applications.
Design of Bits
The TRUE hollow-ground bit transmits all the energy of twist (torque) evenly and smoothly up the shank of the bit. Hollow grinding not only allows for effective power transfer but also ensures complete metal-to-metal contact between the tip of the bit and the entire screw slot. This design enables maximum power exertion, akin to a finely tapered gun spring.
Standard "hollow-ground" screwdrivers that have been ground off square concentrate all torque pressures at the square edge of the grind along the tip. As every gunsmith knows, such a flaw in a spring can lead to breakage! Traditional straight-tapered screwdrivers deliver all torque pressures to the fine edge of the screw slot. Additionally, being tapered, the laws of physics can force the bit OUT of the slot.
Perfect Fit
The complete sets include eleven bits for slotted screws, #1, #2, and #3 Phillips bits, plus ten hex bits for socket head screws. You can enhance versatility and achieve an absolutely perfect bit-to-screw-slot fit by purchasing extra bits and grinding them to an exact fit using the special Shaping Stone available on this page.
Materials Used
The bits employed in the Brownells MAGNA-TIP screwdrivers are manufactured specifically for heavy industry. They are designed for use in high-speed, production, impact-power drivers for setting screws in mass production applications. These bits must be constructed with the optimal combination of hardness and durability to provide maximum strength and wear resistance!
