Precision and performance for every gunsmith and hobbyist.
Introducing the BROWNELLS MAGNA-TIP® BITS, designed specifically for the gun shop or workshop. With the MAGNA-TIP screwdriver, gunsmiths and firearms enthusiasts can achieve a close fit in nearly any gun screw they encounter, as well as in various household and garage applications.
Design of Bits
The TRUE hollow-ground bit transmits all the energy of twist (torque) evenly and smoothly up the shank of the bit. Hollow grinding allows for optimal power transfer and ensures complete metal-to-metal contact between the tip of the bit and the entire screw slot. This design maximizes power exertion, similar to a finely tapered gun spring.
In contrast, so-called "hollow-ground" screwdrivers that are off square lead to torque pressures concentrating at the square edge of the grind along the tip, resulting in breakage—a flaw every gunsmith dreads. Standard, straight-tapered screwdrivers deliver torque pressures to the fine edge of the screw slot, and their tapered design can force the bit out of the slot due to the laws of physics.
Perfect Fit
The complete sets include eleven bits for slotted screws, #1, #2, and #3 Phillips bits, plus ten hex bits for socket head screws. For even greater versatility, you can achieve an absolutely perfect bit-to-screw-slot fit by purchasing extra bits and grinding them to an exact fit using the special Shaping Stone featured on this page.
Materials Used
The bits in the Brownells MAGNA-TIP screwdrivers are manufactured specifically for heavy industry. They are designed for high-speed, production, impact-power drivers, ensuring they are suitable for mass production applications. These bits are built with the right combination of hardness and durability to provide maximum strength and wear resistance.
