It does not work, will not click into lower even empty with no rounds. Only a couple times I was able to continously hit it and it would maybe lock in, but otherwise it caused nothing but frustration for me. I heard the M2 Worked fine with this gun I have, but the M3 does not work.

Had to shave off the lip on the backside that contact the magwell. other than that it operated as it should

The Gen M3 is a direct answer to the (already minor) concerns about the Gen M2, creating a mag that trades the elder's weaknesses for a couple of its own. First off, some subtle revision of the geometry almost entirely prevents the phenomenon of the top cartridge popping out from an impact around the base, so there isn't likely to be any lost or half-ejected rounds in the event of a drop. It then streamlines the base plate to reduce its external lip, leaving more space between mags in a carrier to reduce "knocking" during movement, but sacrificing some of the M2's ease of removal, something the added bit of waffle texture at the bottom only partly makes up for. Additional textural tweaks deepen the pattern around the main body and add some ribs to the front for added traction. Finally, the bracing ribs at the top have been beefed up and a small ledge has been added to prevent over-insertion when the bolt is open - both serve to stabilize its position in the mag well, but also contribute to the increased difficulty of adding and removing the mag to and from a carrier; either way, it's still far better than a smooth GI mag from a gripping standpoint. The M3 is a bit pricier than its predecessor, but still quite affordable. And of course, it retains the durability, light weight, and great function that have made PMAGs the go-to for so many shooters. Thumbs-up.

The Magpul Gen. 3 AR-15 magazines are really solidly built AR-15 magazines.



The only thing I would not buy again are the "sand" colored magazines. By the photos on this website on my color calibrated monitors, I expected the magazines to be tan like the FN-SCAR, however the magazine is more of a beige white color. Just a heads up on that in case you were trying to color match your rifle.

I bought the 10 pack of the gen 3's for a great price and I love them. I got a gen 2 with the gun I bought and the gen 3 seems to fit better especially when fully loaded.

At first I was skeptical to move to the polymer mags after always using aluminum or steel mags, but I'm glad that I did. They are heavier than the standard aluminum mags, but superior in durability, and they are lighter than the steel mags. This is a win win in my book. I know some people have complained about these mags not working in their AR's, and all I can say about that is if you have any uncertainty about these mags fitting call MagPul or Brownells to see if they will work. Some ARs are funny when it comes to mags (the reason you should only buy well known/recognized names).

I bought several of the Gen3's in twenty and thirty round capacity. I loaded factory Federal rounds in the thirty round magazine last night, and the magazine would not lock in the lower. I tried reducing the rounds by one, and re-inserting the magazine, same problem. I got down to twenty rounds in the thirty round magazine and had the same issues. I tried the twenty round magazine today, with the same negative results.



Today I tried the magazines in a different manufacturer's lower, same issues.



I have e-mailed Magpul, and will post their response.

Set an empty pmag on the hood of my truck while packing my gear (stupid, I know). Seen it slide off at 40MPH. Then seen a suburban run over it before I could get to it. Other than some scratches, pmag is fine. Tough magazine!

These are the only mags I roll with after my mil issue metal mag faild me.Drop them,throw them,drive over them they still work.Only jams I had where from remanufactored ammo after running 4 clips thru at burst.I think these are the best that I have used.

Bought other mags Pmags are still what I use.

I ordered the magazines (2-20 round P Mags) last Friday and received them Monday. WOW! That was quick!! At present they seem to load just fine and will be tested on Aug. 18th at a local Carbine match. I was recently asked why I would purchase 2, as I have several "old school" 20 round alumininum magazines. I responded by stating I use them when shoot prone (primarily at distance). One can also load the mags to capacity and they seem to function just fine. I will give a bit more KUDOS to Magpul in general as all existing alumininum magazines I own (30 rd- not 20 rd) have been outfitted with Magpul components and have always served my needs. All of my training/local carbine competition was conducted with the "upgraded" magazines. Not one problam that I can recall. Great stuff. I would recommend it (MagPul accessories etc) to anyone/everyone.

Ordered one of these MAG557 for my Colt Competition CRX-16. When I put the magazine in my rifle it jambed inside the weapon. I Had to separate the upper and lower receivers to dislodge it from the inside of the magazine well.

Usually I buy the MAG211, never had any problem with them. Don't really see why this particular Magpul model magazine failed to work correctly.

Now I will have to go through the hassle of returning it and ordering a 211.

I like the way the M3's fit tighter in my magwell,better than the M2's.
The only thing i don't like,you can't store the dustcover on the bottom of the mag,like you can with the M2's,Everything else is great.

ordered this magazine and got it in yesterday. haven't gotten a chance to use it yet, but i loaded it with some dummy rounds and it fed perfectly. fits the magazine well perfectly. and i really like the new texture pattern on the mag. the waffling is a little more pronounced than on the earlier model magazines. Magpul always comes through with great products at a fair price. would definitely recommend this to anyone who is interested.

Picked this mag because of all the hoopla I'd read about it and it did not disappoint. A very well made product at a VERY reasonable price. Hard to beat. I like the 20 round as opposed to the 30 because it's easier to shoot in the prone position. I'd highly recommend this mag.
