Short-Chambered; Pre-Threaded To Fit Remington 700 Actions

The fastest, most convenient method available to any gunsmith for rebarreling and accurizing the fine Remington 700 action. Now you can provide your customers with the increased accuracy and superior performance that only a custom, match-quality barrel can deliver without time-consuming and costly lathe work. Brownells match-grade barrels are pre-threaded and short-chambered for ease of installation. Plus, the bolt body counterbore is fully cut. Groove tolerances are uniform to within .0003" end-to-end and air-gauged to ensure conformity. After installation, use a hand-turned finish reamer to deepen chamber until correct head space is reached, (correct Reamer and Headspace Gauges required). Made to our specifications by Shilen.

SPECS: 4140 chrome moly or 416 stainless steel, stress relieved. 26" (66cm) long. Contour #4 for .204 Ruger barrel is 1.220” (3.1cm) tapering to at the breech to .660” (16.7mm) at the muzzle. Contour #5.5 is a very close match to Remington factory varmint barrel and requires only minimum alterations to factory stocks. Contour #6 and #7 are straight tapered from 1.200" (30.5mm) at the breech to .750" (19mm) (#6) and .900" (22.9mm) O.D. (#7) at the muzzle. AWESOME QUALITY and SUPER PERFORMANCE (21/05/2011)

i used this barrel for a personal custom rifle that i built. with the 1-8 twist it is perfect. i reamed the chamber to accept a 6mm remington case.
the lands and grooves were perfect looking with my hawkeye borescope. it is very smooth inside, no tool marks. i recommend this barrel to anyone looking for first class.

Makes for a great home shop custom (20/07/2011)

I built up a Rem 700 action into a target rifle using this short chambered barrel. Headspace was easy to set, minimal material needed to be removed from the chamber and the finished gun shot under 0.250" with 75 and 80 grain bullets. A great way to be able to build a custom rifle in a home shop without the use of a full size lathe.

Shilen 22-250 w/1:8 Twist (05/08/2018)

Very pleased with the accuracy from this barrel. Paired it with a Defiance action, H-S Precision PT-008 stock, and Golden Eagle scope - it's a great shooter. Three shot group photos were taken during load development after running 20 rounds of factory loads through it for break in/cleaning.

One thing to note, if you are fitting to a custom action check the thickness of the recoil lug (if provided with the action). The barrel is set up for a factory recoil lug ~.187" thick lug.

I use 18 inch barrels and Shilen exclusivly and consistently get sub .25 in. groups at 100 yds.

I have been long range target shooting for 33 years this barrel is probably the most accurate that i have shot. Buy it you will not be disappointed. Make sure you have a good gunsmith install it.

I have been long range target shooting for years and have many rifles this is now one of the most accurate in my collection. Just make sure the gunsmith or person installing this noes what he is doing. Buy it you will not be disappointed if accuracy is your thing.

This is an outstanding replacement barrel for a Remington 700P rifle. When properly installed, results on paper at 100 yards will touch each other. Using a Nightforce 3.5x15x56 scope....Robert

Came as described make sure you true up the corners. Worked well with hornady TAP 168 out to 1000 yds. Chambered great break in went well minimal fouling. Great product!

Great barrel (24/02/2011)

Great looking barrel . It's a little heavier than I expicted and messures 26" long ,1.200" at breech and .900 at the muzzle , not .750 . It weighs just over 6 lbs. Great machine work and no stamping or lettering on barrel . Great buy for the price .

Very good barrel for the price (14/07/2011)

Used this barrel for a ground up build for target shooting. Installed perfectly with just minor chamber finishing. Barrel finally settled down after 250 rnds. The very best 5 rnd group was .189 moa. Average groups with handloads are about .4 moa. Will most definitely do this again.

Perfection for the price (14/09/2013)

I bought this barrel not because I was worried about accuracy, but because I shoot for fun. The factory sporter barrel is just extremely puny looking and I hated that. I bought this barrel because of its size. When I received it, it had excellent machining. It is exactly 26" long and like others says it is .900" at the muzzle. It weighs about 6 pounds. It installed without incident and required very little finish chambering to establish the correct headspace. I was especially happy at the range. After a few hundred rounds I was shooting 0.5moa. All in all I thing it is a great barrel for the price.
