Direct replacement buttstock for AR-15/M16 carbines is designed to withstand the rigors of the modern battlefield. Slim stock features a sloping cheek weld for a firm fit and improved user comfort. The dual side latch release provides easy adjustments and is set up out of the way to remain snag free. Premium chrome-silicon locking spring ensures a positive long on the receiver extension tube and long service life for the stock. Internal anti-rattle feature provides a snug fit to minimize wobble on the receiver extension tube. Rolled toe and angular butt plate allows for easier shoulder transitions and better fit when using body armor. Non-slip rubber butt-pad helps keep the carbine on your shoulder and increases recoil absorption. Two sling mounts allow you to utilize different mounting options.

Glad I read about the differences in tube size. I assumed they were the same. Oddly, had never swapped out buttstock parts. Pays to do your research. Perfect fit and color match

Great Function, Great Value (09/03/2016)

I'm shocked that the most important feature of the MOE SL doesn't get more press, that being its solidity. Contrary to most descriptions, the stock is not simply "tight"; rather, its interior sports a pair of strong leaf springs that brace it against the buffer tube, truly minimizing wobble. Compared to the vast majority of stocks at its price point, including the classic MOE, it is remarkably steady and quiet. Now, the CTR, STR, and ACS models accomplish this even better with their friction locks, but the SL doesn't require manual engagement of a lock to achieve its effect. The flipside is that there is some definite resistance when changing position, although I find this helps control its position; in any case, the initial stiffness smooths out with time. The adjustment levers, which are shielded by the stock body, are ambidextrous and reasonably easy to access. A further advantage over previous Magpul designs is the flat, ribbed buttpad, which offers more freedom and comfort than the concave profiles that came before. A QD swivel attachment point and a pair of slots for a traditional sling wrap round out the package. I only wish the tension spring for the adjustment levers were just a little tighter, as they exhibit a bit of play when not engaged. It's a matter of priority and preference, but there are few carbine stocks I'd recommend more, especially for the price.

Nice and tight (01/05/2018)

It fits my DPMS 6-position extensions as well as my 4-position UTG extensions perfectly. It is *very* tight - almost too tight to slide even with two hands. It's like an "adjustable fixed stock" you can set where you want and not have to worry about it rattling or moving at all.
