Great fit (24/08/2010)

This mainspring housing fit my Caspian frame great. The fit was tight, but needed no filing or stoning to fit. Great fit with the internal parts as well.

Nice Product (25/10/2010)

Used in a "scratch built" government model. Fit very well into my (iffy?) Essex frame. Pin hole location was perfect. Solid rail-to-groove fit into frame with no alteration or movement. Cannot see any flaws in the fine, sharp checkering.

Replaced the plastic in my Colt Commander with this. Fit is really good, and solid construction.

Much better than kimber housing (18/06/2015)

I purchased several items including complete spring kit & other Wilson's combat parts such as bullet proof firing pin, bullet proof sear, SS mainspring housing, bullet proof extractor, bullet proof sear spring, several weight recoil springs.

I don't know the 1911 as well as I do the AR and AK so I sent all of my parts to robar to have them NP3+ which has given me excellent performance so they put all of my parts together and I couldn't ask for a better running 1911.

Great product (26/01/2011)

This housing was dropped into a Springfield Lightweight Champion 1911. No modification was necessary, the fit/finish is great.

Fit my Kimber Pro Carry II Perfectly (03/10/2012)

I received my replacement main spring housing today and put it on my Kimber Pro Carry II.

No fitting needed.

Using the appropriate punch sizes I was able to remove the old one and put the new one on with no trouble.

Bottom line: I would recommend this to a friend.

Does NOT fit Kimber Custom II (07/12/2013)

This is a good quality mainspring housing milled form solid bar stock steel, but it DOES NOT just drop in to a Kimber gun. Item is 1/16 to 1/8 inch too tall to fit under grip safety. Will need to be fitted by a professional gunsmith to mill down to fit on gun.

Great product (22/02/2015)

This is a great product as is to be expected with Wilson Combat, especially their Bullet Proof line. It does however need fitting for my Colt Rail Gun. As another reviewer stated, it is just a hair too long to fit. It should be understood that very few parts are actually drop-in on a 1911 and this is not advertised as such, so no need to drop the rating because of it. The part looks and feels great.

Good part, as all of the Wilson Combat parts that I've used in the past are, BUT, like most parts on a 1911, it is not necessarily "Drop-in", although that is what the packaging states. It took about an hours worth of filing and stoning to get the OAL short enough to not bind on the grip safety. Checkering is clean and fine, finish is a matte blue.

Purcahsed for my Colt O1980 XSE (01/01/2017)

No fitting required for my Colt O1980 XSE dropped right in. Tight fit. Replaced the stock poly housing with straight serrations. This Wilson Combat unit feels and looks way better.

Rock Island armory M-S Series commander (24/03/2018)

I love the look and feel of the part, but unfortunately this item does not fit my commander style 1911.

I have a Rock Island 1911 A1 MS (this is a mid size gun from them) with a 4.25" barrel. The housing goes in nice an tight, but i got about an 1/8" or more of it hanging out the bottom before the pin lines up. I'm afraid to have a gunsmith work on it because if it wont work i cant return it.
