The deeply grooved, oversized pad is ergonomically shaped to ensure natural, comfortable thumb contact and provide maximum leverage for quick, positive safety engagement and disengagement under stressful conditions. Edges are beveled or rounded to prevent abrading of the finger or snagging on clothing during the draw from concealment.

I've a TANFOGLIO Witness 1911 .45ACP (Made in Italia) and the original thumb safety was too small for competition shooting. I ordered this part from Brownell's and installed in my handgun. Few fitting required and now it works perfectly ! Thank you EGW ! Thank you Brownell's !
A truly impressive piece of metalcraft! 15/09/2014
A beautifully crafted American-made part! I am particularly impressed with the THICKNESS OF THE SHIELD, which feature will eliminate outward forces on the spring-loaded plunger. This EGW shield is beefier than any other maker's safety shield that I know of. Further, this part is quite obviously machined from stock versus being a mere casting. Finally, the stainless steel surfaces have a pleasing "brushed" finish versus having a "powder-coated" appearance. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
