Dissapointed with Endurance(09/01/2010)
I won one of these mags in a raffle and liked it so I bought three more for IDPA competition. They fed well, but after less than two years of reasonable use, they all stopped dropping free from all my 1911s.
Some experimentation indicated that it was due to the feed lips spreading apart. I gently closed them a tiny amount and they once again dropped free for a brief time before resuming sticking. They continued to feed well, but they just wouldn't drop free. This is unacceptable to me in a carry magazine and is a match-loser when one must change mags on the clock.
For that reason, they have now been relegated to NRA Action Pistol where magazine changes take place off the clock.
Mec-Gar typically makes very high quality products so I was particulaly disappointed in this situation.
Not for repeated use.(12/08/2010)
Worked flawlessly for about 6 months. After about 300-400 rounds from one magazine, the lips expanded. The magazine no longer drops freely from my Colt Combat Government. It is useless for duty/competition use; however, it still feeds perfectly and is good only for target practice.
Great Mag.(27/01/2010)
I have not had any problems with these mags in my Kimber Custom. I have been using them for years. Good quality for the price. I like the bumper shape. My little finger fits comfortably in the contour of the bumper in front. It does't bite me like others do. Real nice blueing on the bodies. I recomend them.
No replacement parts(06/04/2013)
US distributor told me replacement springs are not an item they have OR will carry.
Great Magazine(02/08/2013)
I have been using these magazines for years. I have had no problems what so ever. I change springs every 10 years and stager usage. Magazine lips have been perfect.
Solid So Far - FMJ and Hornady XTPs(15/12/2014)
Bought two a couple years ago and have functioned very well after the first couple hundred rounds (I'll put that on breaking-in the pistol rather than the mags) Since then, No FTFs, and locks the slide back every time, even with Hornady XTP Hollow Points.
Great magazines(15/07/2015)
I've been using these mags in USPSA / IDPA for over three years. They've been dropped in puddles of water, mud, sand, gravel and stepped on.
They never failed!
I have around 15 of them and I will continue buying them.
Great Magazine(05/10/2015)
I love these magazines. They came with my 1911 Desert Eagle. I have tried other magazines ( some twice the price or more) and these work the best without any problems. They are very well made and high quality. Easier to load than some other magazines and no sharp edges. Fit and finish are excellent. I can see why the Israeli manufacturer chose these magazines. Best buy especially for the price.
Surprised with feeding problem(09/08/2016)
I have purchased Mec-Gar mags for my Berretta 92 and they functioned flawlessly, and were well made. So I assumed that these 8 rd mags would deliver the same performance. I had failures to feed on at least 3 different occasions. And I know it was the mags fault, because when I used 2 other mags in the same gun, zero issues. It seems the rds would bind inside the mag and fail to feed correctly. Perhaps I just received a bad mag. But would now never trust it for self defence
Work great(10/05/2017)
These mags come standard with Tisas pistols. After running several hundred rounds through the gun I never had a single FTF or any other issues. So, I bought some more and they all work fine in my growing collecting of Tisas guns.
Beautiful blue, smooth, great clip!(29/08/2009)
I found this magazine with the smoothest, deepest bluing I have seen on any magazine. Simply a beautiful magazine and it worked as good as it looked. Quality shines from it! It has a stainless steel flat follower and locks my slide back every time on the last shot. No jams, feeding was excellent. I would love to see this same magazine in an eight shot capacity. On the side is marked .45 and cartridge witness holes are numbered two through seven. The base plate is welded and all surfaces are smooth with no sharp edges. (Made in Italy)
Excellent 1911 magazine(02/10/2010)
This is a great magazine, period. The fact that it's about a third or more less expensive than some "premium" magazines out there makes it even better. I love the uniquely designed steel follower. The steel is heavy, the craftsmanship and finish are superb. These are the mags that many maker, including Springfield Arms, use as their factory mags, and I can see why.
Quality 1911 Mag(09/02/2011)
These mags are one of the best mags you can buy for the money. Fit, finish and reliability are all top notch. These function 100% in my Rock Island. The springs they use are some of the strongest ones I have seen in a 1911 mag.
Best I have found(07/03/2012)
I got two of these magazines with a custom bullseye gun that I ordered. It took me a year to figure out that these magazines were something special. Smooth beautiful bluing, and a very strong spring. For some reason these magazines are much easier to load than other brands. I have had trouble with other magazines causing alabis. These simply do not have any issues. They feel as if both the metal and the parts are much higher quality than any other magazines.
NIce Mags!(25/12/2016)
I bought these for extra mags for a new SR1911 Commander. They functioned flawlessly. When looking back I thought I had bought ACT Mags because the follower is the same as the ACT Mag pic. Mec Gar shows a plastic follower. I prefer the no tilt metal follower so that's a good thing. These also have a steel base plate not the plastic shown in the pic. I've since tried to drill these to add pads and that is some tough metal. Well that or a bad drill bit. Overall I'm very satisfied with these mags. As always very satisfied with Brownells service. Thank you!
What You'd Expect(04/09/2018)
I bought a couple of these for my Remington R1 1911 blued Government model in .45 ACP. They work just as well as the factory magazines, and are cheaper, too. I plan on buying more. Nice bluing, too.
