great applicator(28/11/2009)
great applicator tip allows you to put just a drop exactly where you want it; and secure screw top means it doesn't accidentally open up in your competition box or cleaning kit. Nice packaging for your portable gear bag
A great lube(20/08/2011)
Use after KG-12 or stand alone; works great, keep barrel lubed, makes next cleanup easier, seems to keep fouling down.
Great Lube(13/02/2012)
Possibly the best lube I have purchased
Rusted out some stainless parts!(25/08/2016)
I've owned and used multiple KG products for many years. KG4 was my go-to gun oil and works great in my ARs. However, I noticed that in my less-often-used guns, if left to sit for a long time, the oiled trapped between close-fitting parts will lead to rusting of those parts.
Either KG4 contains water or corrosive acids, or it traps humidity out of the air. It got thick and gummy, and the exact surfaces it was stuck to had oxidized to black or red rust. I had to use a wire wheel and fine grit sandpaper to clean the rust off. The rust was not just at the edges of the oiled areas--it was underneath everywhere the gummy oil was.
Strangely, the parts that were rusted out were stainless steels--a 416R 1911 frame in one case and whatever HK uses for the MP5 bolt's internals. But they had sat for a long time, soaked in KG4 oil. The oil, of course, was liberally applied for the purpose of protecting the metal parts during storage.
Even stranger, I don't seem to have the same problem with my ARs, one of which has a 416R barrel and barrel extension. I can lube up the barrel extension but don't see any rust. That said, the ARs are shot a lot more often and cleaned out a lot more often.
