About us
Brownells Europe's story is more than just a history; it's a journey fueled by passion and dedication to the shooting sports and hunting community. Our CEO, Olav Aas, found himself at a Gunsmithing school in Denver during the 1990s, where he was introduced to tools from Brownells. It was a revelation. The quality and innovation of these tools were unmatched, yet they were nowhere to be found in Europe. Olav saw this gap not just as a challenge but as an opportunity—an opportunity to support and uplift the gunsmith community that was missing out on these essential tools. He realized that if these tools were to reach Europe, someone had to make it happen. That someone was him.
From this realization, the idea was born. It started modestly, with a small printed catalog distributed in Norway, offering these previously unavailable tools to local gunsmiths. This small step was the beginning of what would become one of the largest firearms companies in Europe. Olav's vision was clear: to bring the best of the shooting world to Europe and foster a community where everyone, from seasoned professionals to newcomers, could find support, quality products, and share their passion for firearms.
