Recommended
Modified for Sinclair priming tool 13/12/2017
The Sinclair priming tool is in my opinion the best for accurately and consistently seating primers. However, for .338 LM (based on .416 Rigby) there are not a lot of options. The proper Sinclair holder is backordered from Brownell.
However the Sinclair tool accepts Lee hand priming tool shell holders and the #8 Lee shell holder fits and can be installed into the Sinclair tool by facing off the lug that holds the shell holder into a press thus converting it to a Lee priming-type shell holder, in other words just make this holder flat across the bottom as are the Lee priming shell holders. I did this easily in the lathe, a 5 minute job.
You may also need to modify the primer cup in the Sinclair tool to allow a case to fit smoothly. I took .025 off the lip of the cup to match the shell holder floor. The Sinclair plunger is adjustable (see their directions) and it sets primers just below flush when is set to .010 above the lip of the primer cup.
