Not a complete decap unit.(08/01/2016)
This is just the assembly that goes into the die. I bought this by mistake as I thought it was a complete unit. It has the spring tip as described in the decap die that has a review about breaking the spring.
Great Customer Service, terrible product(10/12/2014)
I bought one of these and decapped ~1000 rounds of 40 before the spring behind the pin got crushed. I emailed RCBS and they volunteered to send me a new pin and new spring. What I actually got was an entire new decapping punch assembly, 4 additional pins, and 3 additional springs. Great! Except, by the time I had decapped 1000 9mm rounds, I had gone through 2 springs already. In another 50, I went through a 3rd. I am on my last spring now and afraid to pull the handle. I have to hand it to RCBS on their customer service, but the design of this die is just not good. the pin hits the primer, compresses the spring and somewhere along the point of the spring compressing, it pops the primer out at light speed. if you run into any but the easiest of primers, however, the spring has to fully compress in order to knock the primer out, and it actually over compresses and gets crunched up inside the punch assembly.
Good product Awesome customer service(25/08/2014)
I picked up this decapping die when I first got into reloading. It makes short work of MOST of the primers and brass. I have only had issues with some 7.62 NATO rounds that have the primer crimped in (even then it's only a few that give me trouble). I'm impressed with the quality but the customer service was just awesome. When I first got this die, I was new to reloading. I was depriming a bunch of .44 Mag brass and without changing the shell holder I put in a 10mm case. The decapping pin didn't go through the flash hole and I broke it. I called RCBS and explained my rookie mistake, the guy on the other end had a laugh and told me he would replace the pin free of charge and send me an extra in case I pull a Dilbert again. Since then, I have had no issues with the product.
