Definitely recommended

EXCELLENT HIGH QUALITY MAGS. WITH SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE 16/12/2020

I HAVE USED MEC GAR MAGAZINES FOR YEARS AND HAVE NEVER BEEN DISAPPOINTED WITH THEIR FIT, FINISH, FUNCTION AND RELIABILITY. THEY ARE AS GOOD AS OR OFTEN SUPERIOR TO ORIGINAL MAGAZINES OFFERING HIGHER CAPACITY. MEC GAR PRODUCE THE ORIGINAL MAGS FOR MANY BIG NAMES IN THE FIREARMS INDUSTRY.

Price was right but this one just doesn't feed consistently, spending more time unjamming the gun vs shooting. It sounds like spring or follower is dragging, I'll save it as a project for a rainy afternoon.

Great Magazine 17/01/2016

The MEC-GAR magazines made for the Ruger P85/89 are just as good as the OEM magazine that shipped with the P85. MEC-GAR is an OEM manufacturer for Ruger and likely made the originals for Ruger. If you see "made in Italy" on the side of your OEM magazine of any make firearm there is a 90% chance it was made by MEC-GAR. I NEVER buy non-OEM magazines with exception to the AR platform and MEC-GAR as these are as good if not actually OEM. I trust these with the SIG P226/P229 platforms as well since SIG had MEC-GAR make their OEM magazines for many years (again, check for the "made in Italy" stamping on your OEM magazines). Unfortunately they don't make all their OEM contract magazines available to the public such as the Ruger LCP magazine, clearly made by MEC-GAR but only available thru Ruger right now.

I really can't say enough about these, especially since you can't buy the original Ruger OEM 15rd magazines for the P85. I wish they would make Stainless in addition to the Nickel and Blued magazines but I am happy I can still get OEM quality magazines for the P85. The only reason I did not select these for self-defense under "Best Uses" is because I believe the review is for the 17rd flush fit magazines rather than the 15rd flush fit variants. These are what I use but the follower is design fairly flat to accommodate the extra 2 rounds. I personally prefer the 15 round MEC-GAR magazines for non-range purposes. The 17rd magazines have never failed but the two extra shots are not worth the trade off given you can buy another 15rd to have on hand. This opinion comes from the follower having acted up on the first few rounds at the range a few times but only on loading, never an issue during firing.
