False center tool provides the gunsmith with an accurate and convenient way to center and securely support a Remington 700 bolt body in the tailstock when performing accurizing work on a lathe. Threaded end of tool tightens into the bolt body when the shroud and firing pin assembly are removed. Milled flats allow you to snug-up the tool with a wrench. The right tool for the job when squaring-up bolt lugs, recutting the bolt face, or using the lathe for any bolt body blueprinting operation. Machined from hardened, high speed tool steel for years of reliable service.

Definitely recommended
Built with quality in mind. 14/02/2017
It's the right tool for the job. A must have if you will be truing Remington 700 actions. I prefer the method of using a 5C collet to hold the accurizing tap/mandrel and the false center in the lathe. The specs describe it being 1/2" diameter. The one I received actually measures .510" which requires a 33/64 5C collet. I'm not sure if this is the case with every false center made by Manson but it is something to be aware of. If you use the method of supporting between centers instead of a collet, diameter does not matter.
