This conversion doesn't take into account that the Gen 4 Guide Rod is larger in diameter at both ends, not just at the front end. The spacer will allow you to install a Gen 1, 2 or 3 recoil assemble but it cants badly to the side during recoil. This could lead to damage to the rod. It would be better if this conversion also had a rear spacer that would go over the rear of the guide rod as well. I would only recommend this as part of an emergency field repair and not for regular use. If you have a high-end guide rod, I would look at machining a spacer for the rear of the rod. This will keep the guide rod alleged properly and prevent damage and excessive wear.
