050806104372 Cures the "ramp slips just as the solder melts" problem with a pointed, spring-loaded plunger that keeps constant pressure on the ramp or a .45 sight, even when the solder flows. Adjusts for height, angle and amount of spring pressure. Non-marring, "V" block base centers barrel under the plunger. Holds rear sight bases in place, too. Great torch clearance.Delivery time approx. 7-14 days.
The RAMP SOLDERING JIG is designed to solve the common issue of ramp slippage during soldering. With its innovative spring-loaded plunger, it maintains consistent pressure on your ramp or .45 sight, allowing for a seamless soldering experience.
With a non-marring "V" block base that centres the barrel under the plunger, the RAMP SOLDERING JIG also holds rear sight bases in place, ensuring that your work is both precise and efficient. Experience the difference in your gunsmithing projects with this essential tool from BROWNELLS.
Defective 31/07/2015
I purchased one of these jigs several years ago but did not try it out until recently. The spring-loaded plunger was not perpendicular to the base, so it sat at a slight angle of 5-10 degrees. This prevented full downward pressure onto the workpiece and tended to cause slippage. The plunger has a pointed tip which provides for a less secure hold than a flat tip. I suppose a small flat could be ground on it. To prevent sight rotation during soldering, the base needs to be sitting on a flat surface. Since temperatures are around 1000 degrees, a metal table is the only suitable work surface. The barrel needs to be level and secure as well, so a padded vise is advisable. This requires aligning the vise and metal table so the sight and barrel are level with the jig. It's a clever design, so I am returning the jig for replacement. Hopefully the next one will be more square.
