050806003118 Spiral Stitched - used primarily for first cleaning operation on the gun with No. 140 Polish-O-Ray"! to knock off old blue, dirt and rust and bring the metal to a bright finish. Also used by some operators instead of Soft Felt wheels - being of a more flexible nature, great care must be exercised to not round edges, or funnel and elongate screw and pin holes.Loose Muslin - used following each change of grit to smooth out grit marks and prepare the surface for the next finer grit. Also used to finish off the gun just prior to bluing.Note: - Use enough sections to make each wheel as wide as your polishing motor will handle - a minimum of three sections to each wheel. Never try to use the same wheel for different grit numbers. After a wheel is broken-in and in use, mark it with the grit number to be used on it and direction of rotation to be turned. Will increase wheel life, give better finishes and save hours of work.

The BROWNELLS MUSLIN POLISH WHEEL is an essential tool for any gunsmith or firearm enthusiast looking to achieve a flawless finish. Measuring 10" in diameter and 3/8" thick, with a 7/8" arbor, this muslin wheel is designed to meet the demands of various polishing tasks.

Product Features:

  • Spiral Stitched: Primarily used for the initial cleaning operation on firearms with No. 140 Polish-O-Ray, effectively removing old blue, dirt, and rust to reveal a bright metal finish.
  • Loose Muslin: Ideal for smoothing out grit marks after changing grit levels and preparing surfaces for finer grits. Also perfect for finishing guns just before bluing.
  • Durability: Stitched wheels feature a 3/8" (.5mm) face, while loose wheels are constructed from 20 ply material.
  • Multiple Arbor Sizes: Compatible with arbors of 1/2" (12.7mm), 5/8" (15.9mm), 3/4" (19mm), 7/8" (22.2mm), and 1" (25.4mm).
  • Wheel Diameter Options: Available in 6" (15.2cm), 8" (20.3cm), and 10" (25.4cm) diameters.

Note: Always use enough sections to make each wheel as wide as your polishing motor can handle, with a minimum of three sections per wheel. Avoid using the same wheel for different grit numbers. Once a wheel is broken-in and in use, mark it with the grit number and direction of rotation. This practice will enhance wheel life, improve finishes, and save valuable working hours.

The wheels do not come in pairs (stitched and loose) even though IMHO the description makes it sound that way. Had to pay shipping twice for the loose wheels.
