All Steel, Solid, 3 Point Attachment

Fully-machined hardened steel mount with three-point mounting, provides a stable, secure base for mounting large objective scopes. Easily clamps to the charger guide dovetail and receiver mount lug without modifications to rifle. Heavy, forward locking screw gives rock solid stability at the receiver ring. Sight channel allows back-up use of iron sights without removing scope.

SPECS: 4140 steel, black, nitride finish. Hardened to Rc 60-62. 5.38" (13.6cm) long. 1.875" (4.7cm) high. Weighs 10.9 oz (310 g).

Should have bought a Sadlak. (14/11/2010)

I've been trying to get this mount to work for over 3 yrs. Shoots 20" high with MK IV scope adjusted to full down limit (that's 45 minutes down from mechanical center). Tried different rings (Smith, Burris Signature), adding shims between rings and mount, raising front of mount with forward setscrew. Shoots groups under 1" @ 100yds when installed per instructions with Smith rings, but 20" high. Shot like a shotgun (6" groups) with other attempts to lower point of impact. Mount manufacturer said SA, NM, M1A not manufactured to tolerance. It groups under an inch! Should have bought a Sadlak.

This is a good Mount. A little more difficult to install than a regular mount like bolt guns but this is due to the nature of the M14. Sadlak and Smith Enterprise are very much alike if not exactly. The Mounts are manufactured to G.I. receiver specs. I have installed these on many M14's in Iraq. But some Springfield's Receivers are not to G.I. specs. You can send the rifle to Smith Enterprise or another competent gunsmith who is good with these style of rifles. I would recommend this mount wholeheartedly. I've never had problems with it that could not be overcame.
