Suspension solvents break down over time 25/08/2016
I've used KG products for a long time.
Unfortunately, I didn't get much use out of a bottle of KG2 because the suspension separated out, and the solvent evaporated or broke down over time.
So, I had to shake the bottle like mad to get the dark grey paste to mix back into a suspension, and even after that, within a day or two, the grey paste had sunk back to the bottom of the bottle.
The sludge got thicker and thicker until it basically could not be dislodged from the bottom of the bottle.
KG was pretty good about offering to replace the bottle for free, but I realized that it would just separate out again on me and end up being wasted. Without some way to prolong the life of the solvent such as freezing it or putting it in the fridge, etc., it would be a waste.
I figure they should repackage KG2 in tiny, sealed/airtight one-time applicator squeeze tubes OR sell the stuff as a paste (like lapping compound) that can be re-dissolved when the solvent evaporates.
Outstanding bore cleaner/polish 27/08/2012
KG-2 is simply the best bore cleaner and polish that I have ever used. I usually run a nylon brush of KG-1 carbon remover through the bore a few times, then a patch or two to clean that out. I follow that with a few passes of KG-12 big bore cleaner on a nylon bush to eliminate copper, punching through a few patches to clean that. Lastly, I run KG-2 bore polish through the bore with a few passes on a nylon brush, then a copper brush. I spray out the bore with KG-3, soak a few patches with same and run them through. It usually only takes two patches to remove any signs of KG-2 residue. I have no idea why JamesD cannot seem to clean this out and easily at that. Use this product (with some KG-3) followed by WeaponShield oil without reservation and you will be more than pleased.
