079340271005 #271 HIGH STRENGTH RED THREADLOCKER The LOCTITE® High Strength Red 271 Threadlocker is a premium adhesive designed for the permanent locking and sealing of threaded fasteners. This high-strength threadlocker cures anaerobically—activating in the absence of air between close-fitting metal surfaces—to form a durable bond that prevents loosening due to vibration, shock, and thermal expansion. It is particularly effective for securing bolts and studs up to 1" (25mm) in diameter, making it ideal for heavy-duty applications in engines, machinery, and vehicles. Key Features: Permanent Locking: Provides a robust bond that prevents fasteners from loosening under stress. High Strength: Designed for heavy-duty applications requiring maximum adhesion. Vibration and Shock Resistance: Maintains fastener integrity under dynamic loads. Corrosion Protection: Seals threads to prevent rust and corrosion. Specifications: Viscosity: Low Fixture Time: Approximately 10 minutes on steel, 5 minutes on brass, and 15 minutes on stainless steel Full Cure Time: 24 hours Operating Temperature Range: -65°F to 300°F (-54°C to 149°C) Container Size: 0.20 fl. oz. (6 mL) Application Guidelines: Surface Preparation: Clean all threads to remove oil, dirt, and other contaminants. For best results, use LOCTITE® SF 7070 to degrease and clean surfaces prior to application. Application: Apply a few drops of LOCTITE® 271 to the engagement area of the male threads. Ensure sufficient product is present to fill all engaged threads. Assembly: Assemble parts and tighten as required. Curing: Allow the product to cure for 24 hours before subjecting the assembly to service loads. Disassembly: Due to its high strength, disassembly of parts bonded with LOCTITE® 271 may require localized heating to approximately 500°F (260°C). Once heated, disassemble while the adhesive is hot. Definitely recommended
Will hold pretty much permanently 06/05/2012
If you need threads to hold, this will do it. Just be warned that they may never come apart again. Blue locktite can be released with heat, so I always use that first. If the blue won't hold, I go for the red. The red NEVER fails.
