How to avoid scratches 19/10/2019
Further to my review about it simply not fitting some people said it scratched the barrel. There are some punched dimples along it that will scratch your barrel as that part makes contact. Put a small bead of clear plumbing silicone on the dimples and let it fully set then fit it. This will act as a rubber buffer and wont mark the barrel. You cant see it and silicone withstands 1000 °C so it wont burn or smoke. That's why it's also used to seal car mufflers. Job done
Looks nice but simply does not fit a 500A 19/10/2019
Can't fault Brownells as the item was shipped in good time. This heat shield looks really nice but it simply doesn't fit. Its the perfect size and radius for the barrel but dont try to fit it tight up to the receiver. The last half an inch of barrel near the breech is simply wider than the shield. Fits perfectly half an inch forward. I asked ATI for help and basically a guy called Troy fobbed me off and said that's what it's supposed to look like. Customer service 1 /10 for ATI but if you dont mind it slightly forward it's great
