A "no lathe" way to turn a surplus Small Ring 93-96 into a sporter. Already threaded with the chamber left slightly short. After installation, use a hand-turned finish reamer to deepen until headspace is perfect. (Reamer and Headspace Gauges required.) Made to our specifications by Shilen.NOTE: These actions are not as strong as the Mauser 98. The barrels listed are chambered for low pressure cartridges. Guns using them should be fired only with standard, factory-equivalent rounds. Handloads MUST NOT exceed SAAMI specs.

Definitely recommended

Excellent barrel 08/12/2012

Installed this on a Mexican small ring M-98 Mauser, then rechambered it for the .257 Roberts (which avoids feeding issues in a box magazine set up for the 7X57 Mauser). It consistently shoots 3/8" to 5/8" three-shot groups at 100 yards, and isn't picky about the loads I feed it. Nicely machined threads, well finished exterior and very smooth bore that does not foul. It took Brownell's Oxpho cold blue well and matched up very well with Oxpho-blued action and bottom metal.
