Hard Arkansas
Not as described 06/07/2016
Stone is described as 3x1x1/4 inch which would make it a rectangle but it is actually triangular. This little stone cost $37 and although packaged well, a corner of the pointed side was chipped off.
Because of the poor photos (top and bottom view) it appears as a flat stone and no where is it mentioned the stone is a triangle. This shape makes the stone very fragile. Another negative, when I want to smooth parts such as the sides of 1911 hammers and sears, I have to work on an angle instead of straight up and down.
Quality of the stone is excellent but If I knew the real shape of it I would have purchased the "Washita Mountain" 2x1x8" fine bench stone instead.
Great Stone for smoothing a sear job. 30/01/2010
This stone is great for polishing down the sear on a trigger pull job for an M&P sear. Still takes some practice. But, does work great for smoothing down the sear.
