608060100960 Dewey cleaning rods are a favorite with competition shooters in all disciplines. The coating on Dewey rods is tough and expertly applied. We include a jag and brush adapter (where needed) with all Dewey rods. We have added the 20 caliber rods recently - they are also the perfect rod for your .22 rimfire rifles. The .17 to .20 caliber rods are hardened, polished stainless steel and are not coated. Coated Rods - All Dewey rods for .22 caliber and up CENTER FIRE rifles are coated and male threaded. A jag and a brush adapter are included with each rod (.22 caliber jag with the .22 to 6.5 rods, .30 caliber with the .277 and up rods , .35 caliber with the .35 and up rods and .50 caliber with the .50 caliber rods. Stainless Rods - Dewey's .17 and .22 rimfire/.20 caliber center fire rods are female threaded uncoated stainless steel. The .17 caliber rods come with .17 caliber jag. The .22 rim fire/.20 caliber rods come with a .20 caliber jag that works for both types of cartridges. ROD LENGTHS DO NOT INCLUDE HANDLE.

Versatile Options

Recently, we have introduced 20 caliber rods, which are also ideal for your .22 rimfire rifles. The .17 to .20 caliber rods are made from hardened, polished stainless steel and are uncoated, providing a sleek and efficient cleaning experience.

Coated and Uncoated Rods

  • Coated Rods: All Dewey rods for .22 caliber and up CENTER FIRE rifles feature a protective coating and male threading. Each rod includes a corresponding jag and brush adapter:
    • .22 caliber jag with the .22 to 6.5 rods
    • .30 caliber with the .277 and up rods
    • .35 caliber with the .35 and up rods
    • .50 caliber with the .50 caliber rods
  • Stainless Rods: Dewey's .17 and .22 rimfire/.20 caliber center fire rods are made of female threaded uncoated stainless steel. The .17 caliber rods come with a .17 caliber jag, while the .22 rimfire/.20 caliber rods include a .20 caliber jag compatible with both cartridge types.

Brownells USA Too long 02/06/2014

Be aware that this rod is so long that it is hard to use. If you have to put one hand on your rifle, the other hand will have a difficult time reaching the handle. I am 6' tall.

Brownells USA A Go TO Cleaning Rod 06/05/2013

I've had several one-piece Dewey coated rods, and they are great. I just clean the coating off every time to remove and grit that may be on the surface. This coating, along with a bore guide, protects the rifling from damage. Yes, I do have stainless steel one-piece rods I use, but most of the time I just grab the Dewey and get the job done in a hurry. I make my own rod cases from Schedule 40 PVC pipe.
