050806019942 Provides protection to locking lugs when welding or forging bolt handles by pulling heat away from these critical areas and dissipating it. Especially effective when used with Heat Control Paste. Threaded to fit securely into rear of bolt body, giving additional protection to interior threads by preventing scale formation. Flats milled on end allow use of wrench. Available separately or as a Set of five.Backorderable, delivery time approx. 4-12 weeks from the USA warehouse.
The BOLT HEAT SINKS for BOLT WELDING & FORGING by BROWNELLS are designed to safeguard critical locking lugs during the welding or forging of bolt handles.
Constructed from blued steel, these heat sinks measure between 4¼" (10.8cm) to 5½" (14cm) long, depending on the model:

Great Product! 19/09/2015
Purchased this to silver solder a bolt handle back onto a Remington 600 Mohawk bolt body. Since made for a Rem 700, it was too long. You can either cut off 1/2" of material or turn down
last 1/2" of dowel to under .200" to fit properly. The threads are the same. Worked perfectly according to supplied instructions. Use heat paste!!!

I used to use a slightly less expensive heatsink product from another company. After having a scary moment when the wrench head ripped off while removing it from a Yugo 48 bolt I decided to go with this one.
I don't know how else to say it: the quality of the aluminum in this heatsink is much better. While both heatsinks are the same size the Brownell's version is much heavier. The fit and finish are also drastically better.
I do (gasp!) Oxy-Acetylene welding, and in conjunction with heat-stop paste I have never even approached a warm touch on the lugs of a Yugo 48, Turk, or Vz-24 bolt using this heatsink.
You can go with the copy or go with the original. I should have went with the Brownells's heatsink in the first place.
