Experience precision reloading with the ARMANOV Dillon RL550 ToolHead!
The ARMANOV Dillon RL550 ToolHead - Zero Play - Free Float Ready is designed for serious reloaders seeking the utmost accuracy and performance. This innovative toolhead features a Free-Float, Zero-Play design that enhances alignment and concentricity, ensuring your ammunition is as precise as possible.
What does the floating die toolhead do?
This toolhead incorporates lock rings that allow the sizer and seater dies to float. This floating action enables the dies to center themselves directly over each cartridge, providing optimal alignment for more concentric ammunition.
What is Zero Play?
Unlike standard toolheads, this model does not utilize the original toolhead pins supplied by Dillon. Instead, it is secured with two M3 bolts that lift the toolhead into the highest position. When cycling cases downwards, the toolhead remains stationary while the cases exit in a straight line. For best results, it's recommended to slightly loosen the M3 bolts, push the index shell-plate with the case into the dies, and then tighten the bolts for optimal positioning.
What is concentricity and why does it matter?
Concentricity refers to the straightness of the bullet on top of the loaded round. A straight bullet enters the rifling in the barrel correctly, while a bullet that is slightly crooked may not achieve its highest accuracy.
What’s wrong with using OEM toolheads?
While Dillon presses are manufactured to high-quality standards, the cast toolheads have inherent limitations. Questions arise regarding the flatness of the toolhead flange, the alignment of threaded stations with the shellplate, and the spacing of these stations. Any misalignment can lead to less than optimal concentricity in your ammunition. Given that the toolhead is the final link between your dies and press, ensuring quality is crucial.
What is different about the new CNC Machined Toolhead?
These toolheads are crafted to the highest standards, CNC machined from 6082 aluminum, which is significantly stronger and exhibits less flex than cast alternatives. All critical dimensions are machined in a single operation, guaranteeing true and aligned surfaces. The die holes are positioned with exceptional accuracy, and the 7/8-14 threads are machined to tight tolerances for a precise fit and alignment. This results in dies that are more accurately centered in each hole and better aligned with the cartridge cases in the shellplate. Additionally, the flange is flatter than that achievable with a cast toolhead.
