Experience Precision with the ARMANOV Dillon 650 Toolhead
The ARMANOV Dillon 650 Toolhead - Zero Play - Free Float Ready is designed for the discerning reloader who demands the highest level of accuracy and alignment in their ammunition. This innovative toolhead features a unique floating design that enhances the precision of your reloading process.
What Does the Free-Float, Zero-Play Toolhead Do?
This toolhead incorporates lock rings that allow the sizer and seater dies to float. This floating action enables the dies to center themselves perfectly over each cartridge, ensuring optimal alignment and producing more concentric ammunition.
Understanding Zero Play
The ARMANOV toolhead does not utilize the original toolhead pins supplied by Dillon. Instead, it is secured with two M3 bolts, lifting the toolhead to its highest position. When cycling cases, the toolhead remains stationary, allowing cases to exit in a straight line. For best results, slightly loosen the M3 bolts, push the index shell-plate with the case into the dies, and then tighten the M3 bolts to achieve the best position.
Why is Concentricity Important?
Concentricity refers to the straightness of the bullet on top of the loaded round. A straight bullet enters the rifling of the barrel correctly, while bullets that are slightly crooked do not achieve optimal accuracy.
The Drawbacks of OEM Toolheads
While Dillon presses are renowned for their quality, the cast toolheads have inherent limitations. Questions arise about the flatness of the toolhead flange, the alignment of threaded stations with the shellplate, and the spacing of these stations. These factors can lead to misalignments, resulting in ammunition that lacks the precision it could achieve. Given the investment of over 100,000 EUR in dies, powder measures, and other accessories, ensuring the quality of the toolhead is paramount.
What Sets the New CNC Machined Toolhead Apart?
The new toolheads are manufactured to the highest standards, CNC machined from 6082 aluminum, which offers greater strength and reduced flex compared to cast alternatives. All critical dimensions are machined in a single operation, guaranteeing that all surfaces are true and aligned. The die holes are positioned with exceptional accuracy, and the 7/8-14 threads are machined to tight tolerances, ensuring precise fit and alignment. This results in dies that are more accurately centered in each hole and better aligned with the cartridge cases in the shellplate. Additionally, the flange is flatter than what can be achieved with a cast toolhead.
