Had one bit left to do on a custom tack-driver AR build, which was the trigger. After considering many options and talking to many other shooters with various high-end triggers, I finally settled on the ATC Gold. Given the season, I scribbled that down on my wish list to Santa. Well, Christmas arrived and a gift box from my honey revealed a Brownell's box with an AR Gold inside. Installation took me about 15 minutes that evening and the results were not disappointing at all. The digital meter averaged the pull at 2lbs 3ozs over a half dozen samples! The break is as crisp as anything I've ever felt with a perfect micro-travel reset. This is the definition of a "hair trigger" and a perfect unit for anyone putting together a precision rifle.

The side to side movement of the trigger shoe is built in to the unit, it doesn't effect accuracy at all. Know your product before complaining about it.

This is a excellent trigger.

This is the smoothest trigger I've used yet. It makes it incredibly easy to shoot great groups and the travel is so short, it wouldn't be difficult to fire multiple rounds quickly ad accurately if you ever found yourself in a situation that needed it.

This installed very easy and has been awesome so far. I really like some of the safety features of this trigger but even besides that it is an awesome trigger! I am spoiled by Anshutz .22 triggers so I wasn't a big fan of the heavier standard AR trigger which is why I got this trigger. As a 1911 fan I also liked how they claimed it felt like a good 1911 trigger.



Now that I have used it, it is everything I expected. It is nice and light but not too light, very crisp break, and feels just like a 1911 trigger. One of my favorite things about this trigger is it is really an all purpose trigger (except maybe combat/self-defense use). It is a two stage with a very crisp, predictable break for target and precision shooters. Then it has a very short reset which is great for speed/ 3 gun type shooters. This makes it a great trigger for a range gun or competition gun since you can do everything with it. Also if you are a 1911 shooter you don't have to learn to shoot with a new style of trigger making transitioning between the platforms even easier.

My three star rating should be ignored because I couldn't use this trigger because it won't fit in my Colt webbed lower but I had to pick a rating.



My reason for this review is simply to warn Colt owners that if their lower is webbed, this trigger won't fit. American Trigger specifies that the trigger won't fit Colt lowers with a sear block but they should also say that it won't fit webbed Colt lowers. As I write this, their website has numerous unimportant errors but this error is important and they should fix it. I emailed them today so, hopefully, they will correct it soon.



Know that there's some bad information out there. Before buying the Gold trigger I did a lot of research and some sites said it would definitely fit a Colt webbed lower. It doesn't. I was very disappointed because I was anxious to try the Gold trigger after reading very positive reviews.

Well, the search begins again.

This trigger and an Aimpoint PRO turned a nonshooter into a confident marksman, she was making smiley faces on silhouette targets at 50 yards.

The installation was as easy as it gets. Fit and function were perfect, it fired steel-cased hard primers without any hiccups and absolutely put the finishing touches on my Palmetto State Armory rifle. There was a question answered earlier that I don't see anymore that said this product wouldn't allow a rifle to go into battery with a full auto bolt carrier (close the bolt all the way and seat the cartridge into the firing chamber) but that's just not true. Anything "Mil-Spec" has a FABC and the majority of manufacturers like Spikes, Daniel Defense, PSA etc. don't sell the semi-auto carrier. I called up PACT (the main distributor for the AR Gold Trigger) and they said this wasn't the case, it simply wasn't compatible with a full auto rifle. So I went ahead and bought one through Brownells because of the warranty and guess what? No problem. Should work fine with any mil-spec semi-auto.

One thing to note is that the hammer is TINY compared to mil-spec, which is just fine because it did its job flawlessly. My only concern is off in the distant future I could easily see the sear wearing out where it catches the hammer. The area in question really is that small but the designers have planned for it with the additional safety feature of an intercepting sear in the event that tens of thousands of rounds finally wear out S 7 tool steel. But that's what that lifetime warranty is all about, right?

Works well, looks sharp, high in both cost and quality. At this point, I couldn't be happier with it!

I bought this after reading all of the good reviews.. The break is good and light.. But the trigger I received had some "slop" where the trigger shoe would move side to side. This was very disconcerting. The design of the trigger is to be thin and elegantly shaped like a remington 700 (Timney) trigger.. But that just makes the slop seem that much more pronounced. Then the reset is very very light. Very deficult to discern when moving and shooting rapidly. So this trigger got returned. At this price point the Wilson TTU is a better trigger

I've fired a lot of weapons over the years, both with stock triggers and tricked triggers, this trigger absolutely transforms an AR/M4 into another realm. The pull feels less than the 3/3.5 that it is, the break is like snapping a piece of thin, fine glass and the ability to get multiple shots on target is enhanced by the short reset. I installed it with a set of KNS .154 anti-rotation pins but felt a little play. I ordered the KNS .1555 pins and that took absolutely all play out of the FCS.



Anybody that is serious should try one - what have you got to lose with Brownell's return policy.

I purchased two stripped lowers to build varmint hunting AR's using custom barrels. Being mil spec lowers, I decided to use the AR15 Gold Trigger. What a difference between the Gold Trigger and another brand used in the past! The AR15 Gold Trigger installed in a minute. Place it the receiver, tip the housing up at the rear, slide the trigger extension under the selector, line up the holes and press the pins through. Place a tiny bit of grease on the sear, check function and I was done. (Be sure to read and follow the instructions packed with the trigger.) Trigger breaks cleanly after light first stage, no creep, feels much lighter than 3 pounds. Easier than installing any other trigger I have used without any fuss and adjustments. The trigger and hammer pins are captured by retainers in the housing, and do not serve as pivots for the trigger and hammer pins reducing wear on the pin holes. Well worth the money.

First off, this trigger is truly amazing! My girlfriend bought it for me for Christmas, and the moment I opened the box, I could tell that this was an extremely precise piece of mechanical art! When I finally got it installed, it continued to amaze! The installation was very easy though the instructions were a little lacking, and before I knew it I was ready to test all aspects of it.

Once I pulled the trigger that first time, I knew I would NEVER buy another trigger for a build! Everything has been carefully thought through from the design of the hammer and sheer to the safety selector cam-lock.

It fit perfectly into my DPMS lower without any sort of movement whatsoever and when the safety is engaged it DOES NOT MOVE AT ALL! In all seriousness, when the safety is on, this trigger module could theoretically be beat with a sledgehammer and it would most likely not even budge.

Truthfully, the only complaint I have is... Well, none. It's a high price, but I promise you that you're getting every bit of your monies worth in this trigger. Buy it, you will not regret the decision!!!

Had a little trouble installing the dropin below the safety selector, but after a few seconds of moving both the drop-in and safety selector together, I was abe to get both in the right place. Remember, use the pins that come with the modelule, I failed to do so and after I realized it moved too much and read the instructions, I fixed the problem. Now it works exactly as advertised, also, suprised at the fast shipping!

Installed this trigger in 15 minutes!It was a snug fit, just as it should be! I have a slide fire and my two stage, 3 lb trigger made it so much easier to control in automatic. I love it.

I shot competatively for years and was toying with the idea of getting back into it. So I pulled my AR out of the safe after letting it sit for ~15 years. I didn't like the trigger then and I didn't like it when I pulled it out again.
I asked a friend of mine that is one of the best shooters I have ever been around where to check. He suggested American Trigger. He has NEVER LED ME ASTRAY BEFORE AND THIS IS NO EXCEPTION.
This trigger is the most incredible AR Trigger I have ever felt. Believe everything they say on their web site, it is true.
It's almost as good as my Race Pistol which was at 1.5lbs and dead solid reliable. This is 2.25lbs and perfect / crisp every time. If you know what you're doing, you will not be dissapointed.
If you are new to this kind of performance, it will likely scare you the first time you pull the trigger. That is not a bad thing as long as you are pointing in a safe direction. You WILL check fit and function BEFORE loading the rifle at a range to test just like for any trigger or mod for any gun that you do, Right? YES YOU WILL!
Had to do a bit of mod on the safety tang but no big deal. Really easy if you are competent.
I wish I would have had one of these when I was actually able to be competative in 3 gun and USPSA. I might have done better. I only made it to Master Class before my kness stopped me from playing very much. Then there is that under 30 years old and less than 30 lbs over weight thing that kept popping it's ugly head up. :-)
Any AR I build from this point forward will have one of these on it without question.

I have three of them adjusted for precision shooting. I really appreciate the safety of an intercepting sear, specially with a super light trigger adjustment. I recommend them for any AR builds.

I have had the opportunity to shoot several high end triggers, both in competition and as an active duty soldier. I can say, without reservation, that this is the finest trigger I have ever used. It's simple to install, safe and reliable, and consistent. The sub-pound first stage is heavy enough to prep the trigger for precision shots, yet light enough for faster manipulation. The second-stage break is literally a glass rod. The reset is like a watch ticking. This is one of the most important upgrades you can make to any AR, and it is a drop-in part. No tuning required.

I have a Noveske N4 Light carbine and after installing it made the safety tighter and a tad bit harder to toggle but it still works fine. I took one star off for that.

Other than that its an amazing trigger. 5 minute install, super light and crisp. No overtravel. Looks awesome. Worth every penny. the Hammer is slimmer than my stock Noveske hammer making it lighter too.

A Fanatastic trigger, but not necessarily totallly drop in..yes, the trigger group drops right in, but i had to relieve the safety on my AR as the safety had too muich material and was binding on the trigger group..simple filing of the safety 'flat' fixed the problem. Very nice 3 lb truigger pull, no creep or take up, but i found the reset /lock time a bit less than i expected.Better than other custom triggers i have tried, but the lock time and reset was a bit slower than i had wanted.All in all, a simple to install, very efficient trigger with a great 'feel' and crisp let off.

I am so pleased with the first one I bought two years ago that bought a second one. Take up is very short and the let off is crisp. The assembly is a beautiful piece of machining. It is a shame to hide it. I have tried it in three different receivers and have not had to modify the selector. I don't t think anyone will regret buying one.

I use this trigger for everything, including the finishing touch for the custom piston M4 I built for my dad. In the first 10 rounds at 100 yards he shot faster and more accurate on the MGM 8" auto-popper, instantly identifying the superior performance.

Installed in a DPMS lower on a rifle used for 3-gun matches. This thing is great. Worked perfectly. I will be putting one in my next AR build.

I have two AR Gold triggers, one "original" about 3 years old that I bought from the owner of the company at the 3 Gun Nationals and a second I picked up over the summer from Brownells. What a delight. This trigger transforms the AR platform, it's like putting a great 1911 trigger in a Glock. Game changer. Another reviewer made some comment about "value engineering." Both my triggers feel the same, and the newer one seems, if anything, aesthetically better made.

I put this trigger in my Ruger SR-556. The installation is as simple as it gets (Five mins max) and everything fit flawlessly. I've shot other aftermarket triggers (jewell, Timney) in other AR-15s but ATC's is by far the best I've tried to date.

I bought this trigger to go into a custom riflr built from scratch and it works great the only issue I have is that the safety is very hard to engage and disengage with the design of the trigger. I have not done any tactical training classes with it yet but when I do, if there's an issue with the safety sticking or the trigger being too light, I will replace the trigger for a Wilson Combat or the like. I shoot 3gun and practice as of late with a AR dedicated 22 LR in fact I have two of them. I have always used high end triggers in my AR 's and the last 4 years went o the modular drop in triggers for interchangeable purposes. Read very favorable reviews on the Gold trigger and decided to order one and give it a try. The first stage is a few ounces then a crisp break. The .030 reset is absolutely incredible for double tap speed. Great Great design and Trigger.

Light crisp break and next to zero reset. Follow up shots are almost instant. I love this trigger.

Installs in at least 5 different lowers I've used them in, simple to install and safety test. 5 minutes.

This trigger has the fastest reset of any trigger I have tried and outperforms the other top contenders.

May be priced high but you will not regret it.

Without overstating the case, all other AR triggers are junk compared to this. As an old USPSA Open Division Master shooter (more than 1,000,000 rounds down range) I know about triggers. This is the only AR trigger that feels like my Open gun (1911 based) triggers. There is about 8-10oz of very light pre-travel and then there is a very obvious hard spot. Add a bit more pressure and the trigger breaks exactly when you expect it to. Mine breaks at 1# 14oz but can be set heavier. I had an AR trigger that was lighter but I could never tell exactly when it was going to break. Installation was quick and simple. If it weren't so expensive it would be in every AR in the world.

I purchased one of the AR Gold Triggers on the recommendation of a fellow shooter two years ago and it was everything he had said it was. Was perhaps the best AR Trigger I have used? However I recently purchased a second AR GOLD trigger and was severely disappointed. It is not the same trigger they were manufacturing two years ago, it has been "value engineered" to a mediocre product. I returned it and will not buy another one unless the quality control issues are resolved.

Well this is not a trigger for High Power competition use. It may make a good three gun match trigger. It is easy to install but there is no real adjustment. A two stage trigger should have a heavy first stage and a light second stage. This trigger is just the opposite, very light first stage and heavy second stage. If you are looking for a top competition trigger, just go the the Gieselle.

This works good and is lightyears ahead of the military trigger. I have 4 of these drop in AR trigger systems and they are all pretty much the same. this one is unique in that it has a low weight first stage and a heavier second stage. These triggers reduced my standing group size at 50 yards by 50%

Product works great. Took longer to take out old parts than to install new trigger. My firearm is a S&W M&P-15 with a 9 1/2# pull! This trigger looks great and right out of the box you can tell it is a quality product. I tried a jewell trigger but the first and second stages were the same weight. This trigger breaks at 3 1/2#. The price is soon forgotten but the quality stays forever.

I bought an ar gold trigger to install in my remington VTR15.

This component is absolutely fantastic and is everything the makers promise. Installation is a snap and the quality of the trigger pull is second to none.

Some will say giessle is as good for less, but for a few more bucks it is money well spent. If you are looking at an aftermarket trigger, you care about how the trigger feels and are willing to make an investment, and this will not disappoint.

While the initial price seems high, this trigger isn't much more than other high-end AR-15 match triggers. It's a "sealed black box", so there are no adjustments to tweak, and possibly mess up. And you don't have to pay a gunsmith to do the job.

I got used to the trigger after just a few shots. After that, I found I was able to concentrate on a good scope picture, and not have to "work" at a long trigger pull with the stock trigger.

The more trigger time you spend with your AR-15, the more you need this trigger. I feel it's the cheapest way to improve accuracy, and is a no-brainer to install.

Installation was easy, just wish they included more information on adjusting the trigger. Also wish the trigger wasn't gold but then they would have to rename the product.
Trigger feels great!! Installed with my factory safety with no modification needed. Very impressed with the overall product. Love the second sear in case the hammer would get bumped/jarred off the first sear. Seems extremly safe. Get one....you won't regret it.

I have spent my share of money on AR-15 triggers and pulled more than my share of bad ones. This trigger offers the best of all worlds. It is easy to install, easy to adjust and the results are second to none.

Pricey yes, but a great trigger. A clean sheet design. Not a reworked set of standard parts but a whole new way of thinking. Pulls very light and crisp. Yet punches deep pits into the primers.
Can't comment on long term results until much more "testing" is done. But so far, perfect reliability and function.
Just wish they were a bit cheaper. Then they would be a 5 star rating!
