Tough, polymer cover slides over Picatinny rails to protect shooter’s hand from sharp edges of unused rails, and shield exposed rails from damage during rough tactical operations. Makes rail less likely to snag clothing and equipment and gives the rounded contour of a smooth, circular handguard with the freedom to reconfigure accessories whenever you need to. Rubber-like, pebble-texture grip surface helps shooter maintain better weapon control. Each panel covers 15 rail slots—the correct length to fit many carbine-length handguards without modification. Pre-segmented construction for ease in cutting to length to custom fit on other handguards. Multiple sections can be mounted one after the other for smooth, visually continuous cover on longer handguards.
SPECS: Synthetic polymer, matte black pebble finish. 6¼” (15.9cm) long x 1-3⁄8" (3.5cm) wide. Fits Picatinny and Weaver-style accessory rails. Covers 15 rail slots.

Magpul Rail Cover(29/08/2009)
These rail guards offer a lot of protection for rails and much of the handguard but they do add to the girth of the forend. Unfortunately, they are also a bit difficult to install. I have found that "pre-stretching" the locking wings on the rail side prior to installation helps a little. Best method is to get one end started and carefully work down the length of the guard "wedging" it on. An improvised tool something like non-marring flat blade screwdriver helps this process if you can use it to help guide the wing over the rail. If you notice the locking wing not sliding over the rail even a little, STOP and fix it. If you try to keep forcing it, you can deform the plastic and it will just get harder to get it to slide over the rail.
I have not tried cutting them into smaller segments than the original length, but they appear to be designed well to permit this. The textured surface is quite pronounced, but not overly rough. The vertical ribs are also the cut lines and are pronounced enough to provide a good gripping surface.
Great Covers(27/12/2009)
A great product. Little tricky to install but when attached to the rail, fit VERY snug. Great gripping feel. Awesome product from Magpul!!
Very nice(05/01/2010)
Went on after a little lookie-lou to see that in order to get a good tight fit you need to lay one side in and "snap" the other down...
Realy made a difference when added to 3 of the 4 rails on my free float tube, adds great grip and no more pain from a bare palm to a rail!
Oh... and they look fantastic to boot!
My first, and they work well(17/01/2010)
I finally got around to putting a free-float rail on my AR. It's a Daniel Defense Omega, and I used the Magpul rail covers. They are a little tricky to get on, but feel great once they are on.
I cut a couple of them down to smaller sizes, and it's a very straight forward process.
Another base hit from Magpul(15/02/2010)
These were a great add-on to my Yankee Hill foregrip, although they do add some considerable girth to grip, but it doesn't bother me at all. I found that by using my girlfriends hair dryer to heat them and make them more pliable made the installation much easier. Aesthetically pleasing, durable, and very comfortable.
Easy on the Hands(07/05/2010)
Quad rails can get a little rough on the hands. Not only that, but they can hang on things when you take your rifle hunting or to the range. If you cover the unused sections of the rail with these, not only will your hands feel better, but you won't have to constantly unhook your rifle from every twig. It'll also help save your rifle rest when shooting from the bench.
Simple, Tough, and Functional(11/06/2010)
As other reviewers have pointed out, these can be difficult to install. The trick is to lightly lubricate the inside of the rail grips with a plastic-safe lubricant. Line up one side of the grip over the rail, then push the grip over the other side of the rail; sort of "roll" it on. The lubricant allows this to slide over the rail alot more easily and it becomes a breeze to install. Once in place it looks good and offers a very positive grip.
great rail cover(02/03/2011)
ive got ladder rails, xtm panels, and multiple other companies versions...but these are my favorite. they are secure, feel good, and add a nice look to the quad rail. they are actually pretty easy to install, it just takes a trick. once you know the trick, they are extremely easy to put on and take off. i highly recommend these rail panels.
Jury is still out.........(23/05/2012)
Unfortunately, too difficult to install. Some other raters refer to "the secret" to installation but apparently this is above my investigative skills to figure out. Have moved to another style rail cover and will come back to this design later, possibly.
Quality Product(21/11/2014)
Somewhat tricky to install, they don't simply slide on. I had to use a small flat blade screwdriver that fit between the rails and pry the inner lip over the rail from the side, kind of like mounting a tire on a rim. Using this method made it easy without scratching anything. Once installed they look and feel great in fact, I'm ordering two more as I write this review.
EXCELLENT PRODUCT & EASY TO INSTALL (12/12/2015)
Excellent fit for Pic-rail. Firm grip and great support. Excellent protection against bumping and heat from firing . Comfortable for holding gun in any position. - I read that some have difficulty to install this product. DO NOT use screwdriver or any other tool. It takes less than 5 secs. No tools required (see pics) : - place gun on or against safe surface. Hold Magpul rail cover loosely on top of desired position on Pic-rail, starting at the center of one of the groves. Do not engage lower lips of cover at this point. Hold cover along the edge on each side with your 4 fingers and place thumbs on middle of rail cover starting at one end. Press down on the cover with thumbs while slightly lifting with your fingers along the side at the same time. It will not break or crack. Lower lips of cover will smoothly slide under edge of Pic-rail as you move toward the other end of cover with your hands. Easy as 1-2-3. - It also can be shortened between each of the 8 segments with a sharp knife if needed.
