The nut measures 2.5 inches wide, providing an incredibly solid mounting surface for the handguard, which helps to reduce vibration and flexing. To help with mounting, the nut doesn't require any kind of specialized tool, and an included timing tool helps to ensure that the Picatinny rail running along the top of the handguard is aligned perfectly with your rifle's receiver.
