Recommended

Very Good Purchase! 19/12/2014

Overall, a very good product. It fits great on my Smith & Wesson M&P 15 Sport. Much more "aesthetically pleasing" than the standard factory stock. Also, the widened battery storage provided ABSOLUTELY GREAT positioning for your cheek and is 10x more comfortable. My only groan, and the reason for not rating 5 stars, is the fact that it took me an extra minute or two to install, must read direction beforehand. BUT, this installation method does make the product more secure to your rifle. Do yourself a favor, buy this stock. (Must be a MIL-SPEC buffer tube)

Amazing! 10/03/2014

Using it for my Airsoft Rifle. Great and comfortable, can't beat the replicas for a tad more. Love this thing to death!

Only downside is the plastic bullet it comes with to help you install isn't the best. Take a small flat head and depress the pin down while holding the lever down to slide it onto your buffer tube.

Nice, but a slight problem 24/09/2013

Generally a very nice Magpul product. Installation wasn't as easy as described in the instructions and it isn't just me that is having problems. The plastic .223 cartridge they give you with the stock is supposed to be used to insert into a detent and lever the adjustment pin down to slide on the stock. It doesn't work and eventually people are breaking the cartridge. Even a small screwdriver didn't work as a lever. I had to use a larger screwdriver and pull down on a cross pin that goes through the adjustment pin from the side. The stock locks up tight and fits well with it's cheek weld. The battery compartment covers are large and made of a rubbery material. One of the two covers on mine droops slightly at the back. The material is fairly soft and allows this to happen. Overall it is a very nice buttstock. I always appreciate Magpul's secondary friction lock.

Perfect for the Vltor A5 Recoil System 11/08/2012

Magpul made the STR as both a successor to the CTR and to work in perfect union with the Vltor A5 system. There is plenty of info on the A5 recoil system, it can be purchased here on Brownells. It's receiver extension is .75" longer than a standard carbine unit. The STR allows you to collapse the stock all the way forward and lock it into position. The cheek weld is superb. The sling swivel is reversible from side-to-side with an allen wrench and a 6-way screwdriver.

The toe has a 'ledge' for precision shooting from the bench. The locking mechanism is typical Magpul (simple and solid). The storage is watertight.

You cannot get any closer to the gun with any other stock.

If you are running a Vltor A5 receiver extension, look no further. I've bought two (one on mine, and one on my wife's AR).
