Slightly recommend

Really wanted to like this 11/09/2018

Put it on my Saiga AK, which was easy, but was just cumbersome. When folded, yeah it can be shot, but pushes your hand down and operating the charging handle is difficult. Maybe for a left handed shooter this would be great, but for 90% of us it sucks. The stock doesn't line up flush with the receiver, so your hand rubs against the receiver. Otherwise high quality and comfortable when not folded.

Well done Magpul. I picked up a new DDI stamped AK with the regular poly furniture knowing I wanted the magpul upgrade. This 3 screw system was very easy to install (10min for me being a new to AK's) and after now 430 rounds is rock solid. The feel on the shoulder is much better than the stock it came with. Grey looks great. Highly recommended and worth the price.

I bought this product from Brownells to replace the stock on my 84S (Chinese AK clone in 5.56 cal). Right out of the box I was impressed by the quality and features of the stock, and it displayed the quality that I have come to expect from Magpul products. However, if you are buying this to install on a Chinese rifle such as a MAK-90 or Type 56S, be aware that some modification of the stock will be necessary, as the Chinese AK rifles have a longer tang and different bolt spacing than European Comm-Bloc rifles. Ten minutes with a Dremel and needle file and I was in business. The stock locks up tight, and the spring detent that keeps it in the folded position is a nice touch. Overall it is the best option for a folding stock that I have found for the AK, as it does not require modification to your weapon.
