Definitely recommended

Super solid 17/04/2018

I don't think I've ever reviewed a gun part before, but this thing is so solid I felt compelled to.

I bought this for a SAM7K AK pistol. I am using this with a buffer tube adapter for a pistol brace while I wait for a form 1 to clear.

I have used ACE's aluminum folding mech before and it worked super well, and is very light. But after getting an MCX that came with a steel folding mechanism and seeing how solid that felt compared to the aluminum ACE mech, I thought I would give ACE's steel mech a try on this new AK.

The only down side is that this is heavy. If you're building a lightweight build the aluminum is for you.

For everyone else, it's well worth the extra cost. It's only .55" thick, much slimer than the aluminum mechanism. It's also insanely solid. The aluminum mech annealed a bit on the parts of the hinge that made contact with each other. So far the steel mech hasn't even worn away at the powder coat. Not only that. but the lock in both the extended and folded position are much more solid than the aluminum counter part.

To summarize, unless you're extremely weight conscious, this steel folding mechanism is well worth the price over it's aluminum counterpart.
