Tight shooter. (01/05/2017)

I used this barrel on a trued 700 action. I converted this setup from a .223 I had around. Installed a new PTG one piece bolt, lapped the lugs and trued the face of the new bolt (action tube was already trued up). I then installed the new barrel and finish cut the chamber with a clymer pull reamer. Dropped the whole thing into a MPA BA chassis (needed the centerfeed magazine to avoid editing the feed rails....at least that's what I told myself...hehe, love the MPA!). This thing is a real shooter. Barrel is now cloverleafing rounds....not even fully settled-in yet. I'm using exclusively 175 smk's. Couldn't be happier with the barrel itself. It is a cut rifled, lapped barrel. Bore was beautiful and it cleans up quickly!! This was definitely money well spent. I'm not sure it's even possible to get a pre-threaded barrel of comparable quality for this price. 1/2 MOA should be routine for these if you do your part, and the rest of the build is solid. Being cut-rifled, I would expect some great longevity as well. Keep in mind, if you don't already know, the m24e taper is pretty hefty. This is larger than a sendero or varmint contour. You may have to do some fitting in stocks that won't accommodate the m24 profile. Total win if you prefer a heavy accurate barrel!
