There are untold thousands of rimfire .22’s over the country today that need only a barrel liner to bring them back to their original shooting abilities. Some of these guns are beautiful collection pieces, others are fine hunting guns and some of them are just “loved” by their owners who want them back to their original condition. Plus, a lot of shooters want to convert to one of the .17 rimfires. Brownells .22 Barrel Liners, made by Redman Mfg., are button rifled with ultra smooth, uniform finish and sharp, distinct rifling for superb accuracy that’s better than - or equal to - an original, new barrel. With the Brownell system, barrel liner installation is not difficult. It can be done with a minimum of tools and shop equipment. Your original investment is quickly paid off in the first few jobs. The instruction booklet gives complete, easy-to-follow details for either the old, classic method of soldering the liners in or, the more modern method of using ACRAGLAS® for the permanent bond between barrel and liner. You’ll find that along with a relining, most of your customers will also want a blue job (Solder or ACRAGLAS will both stand hot bluing temps); a stock refinish and probably action work - “Make it like new” are the usual instructions. This, you can do.When deciding to offer this service for your trade areas, you should also consider the price and quality of some new guns today and tightening up of your customers’ spending habits. By relining, they can often have a better gun for less money.Barrel Liner Instruction Book details the systems used by gunsmiths Bob Schuetz, Willis Sprunger and Ralph Walker. Walker used a variable speed hand drill and ACRAGLAS to hold the liner in. Schuetz solders the liner in place. Sprunger extended a regular bit, drilled the hole in a lathe and bonded with ACRAGLAS. 8½" (21.6cm) x 11" (27.9cm). 16 pages. Instructions FREE, not included. Revive Your Rimfire Rifles with Precision and Ease!

Introducing the 22 Caliber Rimfire Barrel Liners from Redmans, designed for effortless and professional relining of rimfire rifle barrels right in your workshop.

Product Overview

Across the UK, countless rimfire .22 rifles are in need of a barrel liner to restore their original shooting capabilities. Whether they are cherished collectibles, reliable hunting firearms, or simply beloved by their owners, these rifles deserve to be brought back to their prime condition. Additionally, many shooters are looking to convert to one of the .17 rimfires.

Exceptional Quality

The Brownells .22 Barrel Liners, manufactured by Redman Mfg., are button rifled with an ultra-smooth, uniform finish and distinct rifling that ensures superb accuracy—often better than or equal to that of a brand-new barrel. Thanks to the Brownell system, installing barrel liners is straightforward and can be accomplished with minimal tools and shop equipment.

Cost-Effective Solution

Your initial investment will be quickly recouped through the first few jobs. The included instruction booklet provides comprehensive, easy-to-follow guidelines for both traditional soldering methods and the modern approach using ACRAGLAS® for a permanent bond between the barrel and liner.

Additional Services

Along with relining, many customers will likely request a blue job (both solder and ACRAGLAS withstand hot bluing temperatures), stock refinishing, and action work—essentially, they want their firearms to be "like new." This is a service you can provide!

Considerations for Your Business

When deciding to offer this service in your trade areas, it’s important to consider the pricing and quality of new firearms available today, as well as your customers' spending habits. By relining, they can often achieve a superior firearm for less money.

Instruction Booklet

The Barrel Liner Instruction Book details the techniques used by renowned gunsmiths Bob Schuetz, Willis Sprunger, and Ralph Walker. Walker employed a variable speed hand drill and ACRAGLAS to secure the liner, while Schuetz soldered the liner in place. Sprunger used a lathe to drill the hole and bonded with ACRAGLAS.

Brownells USA This worked great. 03/05/2018

This worked great in an old High Standard pistol. The pistol is very accurate after the reclining. Pretty easy to use, but I have a lathe. Note that you need to cut the chamber after installation.

Brownells USA Tips For The Professional 14/04/2017

NOTE: these tips are for the Professional Gunsmith and persons who are properly trained on chambering and operating a lathe; and are meant to be in addition to following the Brownells instruction manual.

1. Evaluate Firearm - budget 6 to 8 hours for disassembly, setup in lathe to drill both ends, detailed cleaning of other parts, final fitting and assembly. It can be a long process to do properly, so charge accordingly. Be sure to clean, evaluate and repair as needed before starting this process.

2. 4 Jaw Chuck - be very careful not to damage the barrel's finish with the chuck or spider, as most older barrels are made of softer then expected metal. I used a 5/16 bottom cutting end-mill to start the hole at the breach because the extractor cut interfered with the pilot drill.

3. Starter Chamber - if you are capable of cutting a new chamber, I would strongly recommend cutting off the starter chamber and reaming a fresh one, as the one cut in my liner was so rough that it almost wasn't recoverable; and I didn't realize it until after it was epoxied in.

4. Securing Liner - after thoroughly degreasing the barrel, lightly scuffing and cutting shallow groves in both ends of the liner, I secured it in place using 262 RED Loctite, and it worked great! Just be sure to use rubber plugs to help keep it out of the new barrel; makes cleanup easer, and helps keep the epoxy where it belongs.
