They start as high-quality forgings for extra strength, then are heat-treated to Rc 38-41 before machining for exceptional dimensional stability. Sides are polished, while the rest of the surface is bead-blasted for a non-glare, matte finish. Deep-cut, forward-angled rear cocking serrations prevent slippage when racking, even with a wet hand. Available in 4340 carbon steel (CS) and 416 stainless steel (SS) with .45 ACP, .40 S&W, and 9mm breechfaces. Commander and Officers models in .45 ACP only. Choose a slide without sight cuts (NC), or between two pre-cut dovetail options: a Novak Lo-Mount or Bo-Mar BMCS rear cut, both coupled with a Novak front cut. Recon slide is a Government slide with ball cuts at the front that line up with the light rail on the Caspian Recon frame (available separately). Definitely recommended

**Springfield rebuild** 11/12/2016

Fitted this SS Caspian slide to a Springfield Armory 1911-A1 frame. Rebuilt this 1911 with all new parts from Brownell's. The fit and finish of this slide is beautiful. I would definitely choose Caspian for all my future builds.

Not recommended

Not so good. 04/10/2014

Not much about this slide was good, but may have just been my luck at getting a not so good one. The front Novak sight cut was bad and took me 4 hours with a file and a knife edge stone to get it to work. I have tried 4 different barrels and hours of filing and stoning and I still can't get one to lock up right. Might be just my luck, but I may not buy another one, ever.....

Exactly what i wanted, Quick, Easy 19/03/2010

This slide is a stainless commander length, of course. It has the rear slanted classic style serrations. NO front serrations, lowered and flared ejection port, Caspian "C" logo on both sides under the rear sight and CASPIAN engraved in the left ( I think, i don't have it in front of me.) It is well finished, NO burrs, If there are any machine marks, they are not visible or i missed them. Edges were crisp but not sharp. I will end up rounding off all edges though. When i got it, it was in a box from Caspian with the stainless note (says if you aren't careful/fit the slide improperly there is a possibility you can break off the rear left part, the notch behind where the thumb safety locks in. IF YOU BREAK IT, YOUR SLIDE WILL NOT BE REPLACED) and some type of grease paper. [...]The slide would go about half way down my frame, which i think is about perfect. I haven't got to fit it yet but I am confident it will fit right. I have a used factory Colt .45 barrel going in it for now and it locked and unlocked very nicely. Locked SOLID. The factory barrel bushing that went with the Colt barrel fit very tight in the slide, but went in correctly. Very good. the firing pin and spring went in no issue ( small diameter firing pin [.38]) The extractor goes all the way in but fits very tight, i think i will sand a couple thousands off of it just to get it in and out. The one thing i didn't try was to see if the firing pin stop went in without fitting, and I haven't received my sights yet, so i can't say how they fit. I am very pleased. I was not able to find another slide i liked anywhere except Caspian themselves, the issue there is the wait while they build it, not that that is bad. I am very "picky when it comes to guns, cars, women, and parts for all..... I know what i want to build before i start. This slide actually exceeded my expectations. I will order another Caspian the next time i build a 1911.P.S. In this review, further down, it has multiple choices for pros and cons. One listed under cons is fitting required. I think this is good. I want every part to fit my gun as well as possible. Some may want to buy a part and it go straight on, thats fine too. SO, my opinion is that minor fitting is a pro. As
