These 1911 Government 5" barrels are "Match Fit", meaning they are OVERSIZED in various areas and need to be machined to fit. Recommended for only qualified, experienced gunsmiths. Barrels come with barrel link, bushing, & link pin. 45ACP barrel is non-ramped. Bar-Sto Precision Machine has been making some of the finest auto-pistol barrels since 1971. Bar-Sto barrels have been used by the U.S. Marine Corps Marksman Unit since 1977. All Bar-Sto Pistol barrels are machined from solid 416 stainless steel bar stock which has been heat treated 39 to 43 RC and 180,000 PSI tensile strength. Barrels are machined, bored, and rifled completely in Bar-Sto's own shop. All barrels have a rate of twist of 1 turn in 16".

Definitely recommended

Simply the Best 03/08/2015

I've hand fitted several 1911 barrels over the last 15 years, but had never wanted to spend the little extra to get a Bar-Sto barrel despite the great reputation. It's really the best I've found. I can't say enough good about it. Lots of metal everywhere for an exact fit with almost any slide. A little more work to fit, but worth the time and effort. Machining is accurate. Nice to have a stainless barrel here in the tropics.

The barrel went into a custom C/P ramped 9mm Mitchell frame and Caspian slide I've shot it weekly for about 5 months and wouldn't trade the barrel for any other.

Look no farther 22/12/2014

Bill Laughridge at Cylinder & Slide put one of these in my Colt Combat Elite about 20 years ago. They are still the only barrels he will use, or at least were at that time, and I think, still are. I will never shoot as well as the gun does, and a number of Masters and High Masters have favorably commented on it. This is an outstanding product by anybody's standards, and that the USMC unit uses it is about as much praise as can be given, You may have to wait a month or two, but be patient. When the shooting starts, you'll know you've spent your money wisely. I bought it because Bill said to. I mean, you don't go to your Dr. and then do the opposite of what he tells you, do you ? If you're going to spend $2k on a gun including the new parts and labor, why buy a lesser product? John Ruskin had it exactly right!! The cost in comparison to other maker's products is high, but like most things in life, you get what you pay for. Oh yeah, this isn't for any body but a well experienced pistol smith to work on - a lot of money in the bushing, barrel, frame lugs, slide, etc. Save your beer money and put it towards the gun. The gun will last a lot longer than the beer, and you'll have something to show for it besides a worn out zipper.
