Good unit but not for competition(14/08/2009)
My wife could not hit anything with my iron sited Gold Cup. I installed this with red-dot site and all of a sudden she was hitting the target. Had to file a very small amount off the right side of the iron site for the slide to be removed for cleaning. I had a very accurate mild load that I have used for 30 years with this gun and with the extra mass it had some cycle problems, but I upped the load by .1 grains and all is well. Still accurate and it cycles good. Not for serious target work, but it is accurate.
It has very close tolerances in the alignment of the 2 threaded rods that bolt it in place, take your time or you will strip the threads. Other wise it is easy to install.
Ejection nightmare(29/09/2012)
When it arrived in the mail I was surprised to see it went on the right hand side of my Pistol. I put this on my standard gov issue M1911A1. I just knew there was going to be ejection problems, but being the optimist I tried it out. Sure enough it jammed on every ejected case. It was a complete waste of money.
