Works great in any light(09/11/2009)
Easy to install, and works great in any lighting condition. Tritrium shows up great in the dark, and the white outer ring in the day light. Fast target acquisition! Only con to this sight, is the sight circle is so big, it can be somewhat hard to define your exact target area from distances of approx. 75 yards and further, although perfect for CQB!
Nice addition to AR platform(19/07/2012)
This is a nice piece of equipment. I use it as the front post on my BUIS (folding) with a Red Dot as my primary sight. Its quick for target acquisition and sharp in day (white dot) and night (tritium green dot). Buyers should note that elevation is fully adjustable but must be a full turn up/down or else the sight will not align to the dot so it will not have the precision of a standard post. Looks cool too -
Not for precision shooting(15/11/2016)
Because you have to rotate the post 360 degrees to circle back to the Tritium insert ~ and with the dot being relatively huge ~ this is best as an emergency "minute of bad guy" hit center mass crude sight picture. It did would on my traditional GI rifle and the Gen 2 Magpul BUIS sights. However I went back to my conventional sight post along with a weapon light.
I just bought this XS tritium front sight for my Ruger AR556. Installation was quick and easy. The post appears to be taller but the aiming point is the center of the round dot, so it should be about the same as the top of Ruger's black steel post.
For dark night I think I'll find using the AR with the rear sight folded, shotgun style with the front sight and check-weld as the sighting system. MOA-burglar 7 yards. Flip-up the rear if there is light.
