Drops Right In & It's Ready To Work

No fitting or gunsmithing required to get the increased muzzle control and accuracy of Clark's dual-port compensators and match-grade barrel. Comp helps control recoil and muzzle flip for improved accuracy and a faster follow-up shot. Match-grade, button-rifled barrel and pre-fit bushing provide a close fit on most slides for increased accuracy, function and reliability.

SPECS: Steel, blued. Kit includes: 5½" (14cm) barrel, threaded .580"-40 tpi, .45 ACP; blued comp; barrel bushing; .278" c-to-c link and pin. Increases pistol length by 1½" (3.8cm). Fully chambered.

Not exactly drop-in, love the kit though (11/08/2010)

I ended up bringing my gun into a local shop, after I installed the compensator and my gun repeatedly jammed. The shop ended up sending it off to Springfield. Two months later my gun is ready,a lighter spring was needed after adding the compensator. My gun is very tight and still has not shot more than 1000 rounds through it so a older pistol might not have the same problem.
Picking up a lighter spring might not be a waste of time when getting this.

the barrel dropped right in, went together smoothly, I had to use a 2 piece guide rod.

as far as shooting, this thing is amazing. no muzzle rise, less felt recoil. less than a 9mm.

I've used these comp kits over a dozen times for customers and my own guns and they don't need a guide rod at all. Guide rods cause more problems than than fix. Stick to John Browning's design with a short style guide rod and to disassemble the gun just pull back the slide and remove the slide stop first, then pull the upper half off the lower 1/2 as an assembly. Then it's simple to remove the spring and guide, then pull the barrel forward about an inch, rotate the bushing, remove the spring plug, then the barrel and comp. assembly. So much easier than messing with a guide rod, just ask a gunsmith!

I put this barrel in my Colt 1911 100 years service, and this Clark barrel shoots better than the colts..alot better!.. All my shots are in the bulls eye!.. wow..never thought a barrel could be that accurate..Thanks Clay from Clark Custom Guns..

Better than expected (25/02/2013)

I was looking for a way to customize my SA stainless Loaded/Combat and VERY happy with this kit. The comp looks great on the gun and the accuracy and recoil reduction are amazing. The comp does make assembly a bit troublesome but a good technique solved that problem. I'm only disappointed that I didn't have more rounds to "test" with.

Quality barrel, easy to install. (04/04/2015)

A high quality match barrel and compensator. I installed this on an old worn out race gun that was a home build. Previous barrel and bushing were undersized with a lot of play. The Clark kit dropped right in on a slightly oversized slide (most everything is drop in) everything fit snug with no fitting required and the surface of the barrel is nice and polished and the compensator is just a hair over the diameter of a .45 bullet making it very efficient at mitigating recoil. On a 1911 with tighter tolerances this would most certainly require fitting and a lighter recoil spring will increase the reliability with this barrel but it is a high quality, easy to install upgrade for anyone doing target or competition shooting.

Barrel dropped right in and no fitting issues. Link was great with the lock up and movement. I choose this with the compensator for a friend who wanted one for competition and is extremely pleased with it and his ability to stay on target. Would buy another when I need another as this, buy with confidence.
