Powerful, fast-acting cleaning and lubricating solutions are specially formulated for today s ultrasonic gun cleaning systems to thoroughly clean, condition, and protect your firearms. Safe for all metal surfaces, including carbon steel, aluminum, titanium, and stainless steel. Won t harm bluing, parkerizing, anodizing, or most paints. Environmentally safe, non-toxic, ammonia-free, and biodegradable with minimal odor, so both products can be safely used right in the shop. Cleaning Solution penetrates petroleum-based greases and oils and removes carbon fouling, dirt, grime, and powder residue to leave the metal completely clean. Gets into nooks and crannies for thorough, deep-down, in the pores cleaning without completely disassembling firearm. Economical, concentrated formula: mix 1 gallon of solution with 9 gallons of water to produce 10 gallons of cleaner. Water-displacing Oil with Thin Coat technology drains quickly from parts without puddling and leaves a microscopic layer of long-lasting corrosion protection. Ultra-low friction coefficient helps minimize wear on moving parts for smooth firearm operation and improved reliability.

Leaves a sticky gun. (13/07/2012)

This is a fairly thick oil that leaves a gun sticky. I'm sure this does a good job displacing water and lubricating, but you might want to look at the L&R lubricating solution (also sold by Brownells). This does the job but leaves a dry lube on the firearm. (You don't have to clean the gun after cleaning the gun.)

I mixed this fluid per instructions in my l&r ultrasonic unit. Since this is water based and they suggest a pre hot water rinse, I tried it on my stainless steel s&w 625. After 45 minutes of submersion, I gave up. All the external powder residue was still there and it did not touch inside the barrel. I figure a solution of soapy water would work as well. Not to worry though, Brownells stands behind their stuff so back it goes.

Do not let this negative review reflect poorly on Brownells. They are a reputable company that I will continue to do business with.

Mixing a 1:3 or closer to 50/50 seems to get better results. Most recent use was a MP5/40 shot suppressed (approx 400rds) and it cleaned good after a long hot bath.

They are a reputable company that I will continue to do business with."Agree with your assessment of this cleaner based on a month of usage over a year ago. Brownells cheerfully refunded and told me to keep the bottle. Their customer satisfaction policy ranks right up there with the very best. The Brownell name is on the bottle, isn't it? When the cleaner doesn't do the intended job as well as the better-known brands, you have no reason to be reluctant to say so. That's why we have this user review section...to alert our fellow customers to the dogs. The company can and should take responsibility if they are putting out a sub-standard cleaner. Personally, I'm now using Dunk-Kit since it's an all-in-one cleaner and lubricator. An e-mail to the company revealed they have many satisfied customers using Dunk-Kit in ultrasonic cleaners. And now I'm using it with great results as well. Sure saves a ton of time since I no longer need to rinse off the water-based cleaner followed by another ultrasonic session in a lubricant bath.

Agree, Higher concentrations work best (31/05/2012)

Cleaned over 30 Pistols & Revolvers with this solution, from early 20th Century beaters, to modern well maintained ones. I find using it in somewhat higher concentrations than recommended, and a reasonably hot solution work best, especially with the old revolvers. Using an old Bronson 8500 ultrasonic with Brownell's UGC works as well as other water based cleaners, I've used(3 total), but does require a higher concentration, than recommended, to do a good job. Why 3 Stars instead of 4.

Effective solution, great value. (25/07/2014)

I used this product as directed with no issues. The 9:1 ratio has produced desired results. I fully disassemble handguns and use it to thoroughly clean all parts prior to reassembly. I have found that I get the best results from rinsing parts with distilled water afterwards to remove any residue, but otherwise have not had any problems with it. I'm using a heated cleaner with single basket, and have found that the 30 min cycle thoroughly cleans all parts.

I have used the L&R cleaning solution. This Brownells product is totally different than the L&R solution and not as good. The L&R solution cleans significantly better. The Brownells product just does not clean as well as the L&R in every respect.
