Lightweight Mount With The Strength Of Steel & Only 1/3 The Weight
MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail is machined from lightweight Tennalum® 7068 alloy that gives the same strength as steel with only ¹/³ the weight. Very High Quality Base!(11/05/2013)
I am very happy with this purchase! The quality of this base is amazing. I bought this on a whim over another manufacture that is know for making very good products. I am definitely glad that I gave this base a chance. The anodizing on it is very nice finish. It does not have any sharp edges and the recoil lug is just the right size. It fits perfectly on my Remington 700 I do not have any gap at all. It is obvious that no corner were skipped in the making this base. I would recommend this base without hesitation. It is worth the money!
No bedding was needed(15/01/2014)
There were several mounts available, and I chose this one ONLY because another reviewer stated that he did not need to bed the mount to the rifle.
I also had no need to bed the mount.
I only put in the front two bolts and hand tightened. Checking the back of the mount, no light comes through and a dollar bill can not fit between the mount and rifle receiver. Removed the two screws, and put in the rear two bolts and hand tightened. Checking the front of the mount, no light comes through and a dollar bill can not fit.
I don't know if people need to bed their mount because of problems with the mount or problems with the receiver. I am just happy that in my case there was no bedding necessary.
Also a big thanks to Brownell staff for helping me select the right mount and rings.
No bedding needed. Excellent fit/finish(06/05/2015)
This unit is lightweight, but quite strong. The finish is even and matches the stock finish of my Remington 700 well. No bedding was needed to install the mount on the receiver, which is a huge plus. The machining is excellent. There are other great mounts out there, but this one is also a great price comparatively. I would not hesitate to buy another one for any future builds.
