Sometimes you want the latest, updated, tweaked component, and sometimes you need a basic stripped receiver where the production effort goes into quality, rather than bells and whistles. The Brownells M4 Stripped Upper Receiver is that component - the perfect starting point for many an AR-15 build. Starting with a 7075 T6 aluminum forging, our stripped M4 flattop upper is precision machined to final dimensions that make it compatible with the multitude of available "mil-spec" AR-15 components. It has a matte black, Type III hardcoat anodized finish, mirroring the military requirement. Machined from 7075-T6 aluminum forging Matte black Type III hardcoat anodized finish Mil-spec dimensions for maximum parts compatibility Standard .250" dia. pivot/takedown pin holes Inside our upper features M4 feed ramps to aid in chambering during high rates of fire. Good value and excellent service (09/05/2018)

Everything I love about Brownell with their excellent service and I keep coming back to shop here.

The uppers I bought are excellent quality and they did good packaging. Unfortunately some packaging wrap came loose during transit and resulted in two minor nicks on one of the upper.

I was going to cerakote anyway so this is non issue. But you should always strive for the best and little extra bubble wrapping will go long ways.

Brownells milspec A3 type stripped upper (14/06/2018)

This is a quality no frills milspec type standard A3 upper at a great price. Assembled to a well known upper tier brand M4 type 16 in. barrel with no issues, and the now assembled upper shoots great. What more do you want?

Awsome fit to my PSA lower (16/06/2018)

I bought this for my PSA lower and the fit is better than I could have ever imagined. The fit is better than my Ruger SR556 upper/lower fit. I will be buying more of these for my other builds!!!

Okay... Disappointed (26/06/2018)

Receiver seems fine fit-wise but finish is lacking... 1/2 of the T markings are there, I wish they'd have missed them completely. They start bright near the barrel and get more faint until they disappear the closer you get to the Charging handle.... I don't care enough to hassle with sending it back but I do care enough to be disappointed in how silly it looks. I may buy another to replace this and use this one in a beater build.

Matches my Ruger lower perfectly (08/07/2018)

I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't for the fitment. 3.5 more like it. Has a good matte black color, does not scratch easily. But I had to sand down the rear kickdown block. I added pictures of what I mean. Also very tight tolorences on the buffer tube, if ANY threads stick out a bit it will not close. I had to back it out a bit, still enough to keep the pin in but I didn't like that either. Will use it for a bit and see how she works but will likely upgrade at a later date.
